As we approach the end of the year we thought it was timely to introduce one of our 2016 new-starts, our lovely Brand Executive Jess. We’ve had a natter with her to find out what makes her tick.
Why were you drawn to After Digital?
Since moving from London to Glasgow, I have kept an eye on all the major agencies based here, as I come from an agency background, so it’s just a force of habit. I was particularly drawn to After Digital based on their personality and the clients they have worked with, as well as their important stand on a balanced ‘work hard, play hard’ attitude, which is incredibly important to me. I was also seeking a workplace that held some family values and really looked after each other, which is exactly what After Digital does.
Tell us a bit about what you did before joining us?
I’ve been both agency and client side in the past. I’ve worked for a youth agency, a design agency and a few high-end watch brands along the way. Taking on a number of different roles from project producer to strategist to brand manager, it’s been a journey of building blocks to get me where I am today. But, it’s definitely been a very positive and natural progression, with some incredible people popping up along the way. I feel very lucky to have had the experiences I have had.
What do you bring to the team?
I bring with me first-hand brand experience from varied backgrounds, a willingness to learn from some of the best and an incredibly positive attitude that sees me often breaking into spontaneous dance! I have a passion for social media and for people; giving me the perfect tools to progress in my role.
What do you do in your spare time?
I am a big foodie, so a lot of my time is spent creating weird and wonderful foods; Nigel Slater is a bit of a hero to me. I follow my passions of interior design, music, art and 90’s pop culture; whilst constantly building up my list of inspirational women, with each and every one offering a lesson in how to be a better and stronger person, think Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire, to Drew Barrymore, to Maya Angelou. I’m also part of Under The Skin, an interactive educational art project, raising awareness for endangered animals across the world.
Do you a party piece or any hidden talents?
I’m incredibly observant when it comes to people; the way they are presenting themselves, what mood they are in or if they are trying to be sneaky (I always catch them!). So, it’s not a party talent as such, but it is definitely something that comes in handy more often than you think, there is no hiding from me… mwahaha.
Stranded on a desert island, which three items would you take and why?
Don’t judge me too much here, but I would definitely be taking the whole series of Harry Potter, an iPod with the largest amount of GB possible and a camera, because if you’re stranded on an island, you definitely need to take some hilarious photos to keep yourself entertained.
Which celeb would play you in a movie?
I can’t possibly pick... I would say a mixture of Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter and Jennifer Lawrence. Now that would be interesting!
What quote do you live by?
I don’t, I just always take every day with a ‘Taking care of business’ attitude… it seems to have done me well thus far!
As we move into 2017 expect to hear much more from our Jess. But for now, we all hope you have very happy holidays.
