Following an exciting £1.1 million heritage lottery grant, the Amber Film & Photography Collective is revolutionising its business, exposing its remarkable collection of film and photography. As part of this process the organisation required an innovative digital partner to reposition the brand in the online space, build out its digital strategy and new website, and help to identify the best possible solution for their digital asset management - enter After Digital!
Here at Amber, we have an internationally significant film and photography collection that has grown out of more than 45 years of documenting lives and landscapes in North East England. With the support of Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England, we're radically increasing access to this unique living archive and to Side Gallery and Cinema - our two venues. A rebuilt and redesigned Amber Online will be at the heart of how we connect with audiences and tell our story. We love After Digital's work and are looking forward to working with them on something as rich and extraordinary as the complex of narratives it allows people to explore."
The project will see a complete redesign of the site using generous interface principles for the vast collection of archive images and films of the North East of England. The dynamic new website will also offer the option to purchase some of the collection online, book attendance at the film theatre and exhibitions and allow the Amber team to actively manage a whopping 10,000+ digitised images by the collective.
This amazing project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England and is part of a larger funding project that will see the whole of the interior and exterior of the exhibition and asset store renovated to preserve this historically significant collection.
We’ll be applying our years of experience in the arts and cultural sector, payment and online booking systems integration and bespoke development for digital asset management, to create a truly innovative solution. Over the next few months, our creative and development teams will be working collaboratively with the Amber team to craft a responsive, ecommerce website we can all shout about and we’re looking forward to building this relationship further.
