There's been lots of great buzz around After Digital and the team of late, with a number of award nominations, commendations and wins, and Friday saw another great achievement - our Group Head of Strategy, Cat Leaver, swooped up the 'Chief Executives Award' at the Women in Business Awards 2015.

Cat, who has been with us for over four years now, was recognised for her work in establishing a thriving internal marketing and digital marketing team within the agency, growing into new client verticals (and breaking the £1m turnover mark back in 2012), and supporting the strategic growth of the company throughout the UK (Glasgow, Manchester and London) and into the US.

"It's an absolute honour to receive this recognition from the prestigious Women in Business Awards and be recognised alongside so many other inspirational female business leaders! None of it would be possible without our incredible team, so a huge thanks and congratulations to them too, I'm hugely proud of everything we've achieved together. Thank you so much also to Downtown, the Lowry Hotel staff and everyone involved for such an amazing and seamlessly-organised event - I'm still recovering today."

The awards was a glittering event celebrating the achievements of those who have achieved so much in their field, from legal advisors to entrepreneurs. A huge congratulations to all the winners and nominees!

"We're so very proud, well done and well deserved Cat!"

However, while things are on the up, this event was also a sobering reminder that the number of women in executive and board level roles in the UK remains shockingly low.

We've seen incremental progress with women now making up 23.5% of FTSE 100 board positions (but that's only up some 3% from last year), but we've still not achieved the government's target of 25% (which is still well under the figure we should be aiming for) and FTSE 250 companies have only achieved 18% women-held board positions.

Diversity is proven to deliver greater profitability and innovation. Naturally, the more diverse perspectives you have access to the more likely you'll find a more holistic solution that considers things from angles you had never even considered. This awards illustrated just how successful these pioneering individuals had been despite potential hurdles presented by the current status quo.

We'd like to thank Downtown in Business for organising such an inspiring event and Lowry Hotel's staff for delivering top-notch service (and delicious food) throughout. We look forward to celebrating again next year and hopefully hearing some much more promising statistics.
