Less than two months ago we found out we had received a second Commendation at the Scottish Design Awards for the Almeida Theatre Website and won Best Digital Marketing Campaign at the Big Chip Awards in Manchester for our work with Illuminated Mirrors (you can read all about it here). So we were made up when we heard that we'd been shortlisted for both categories we'd entered at this year's Glasgow Business Awards.
The category called for campaigns which had achieved high levels of commercial success and exceeded clients' expectations. With a 25% year-on-year profit increase and a relationship spanning over 3 years, our work with long-term client Illuminated Mirrors was an obvious choice for entry.
Illuminated Mirrors is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of both bathroom mirrors and cabinets and after a decline in search rankings, poor social media engagement and diminishing return on investment from paid search activity, we began working with the brand to develop a solid digital marketing strategy and increase site traffic, engagement and online revenue.
Combining organic and paid social media, blogger outreach, PR, PPC and SEO, we have dramatically increased ROI for the brand and supported their growth worldwide. Our innovation came in the form of initiative and creativity when working with initially fairly small budgets which has now paid dividends - 37% growth in online revenue, 125% increase in organic traffic in just six months (with a 552% boost in organic revenue), 152% growth in Facebook conversions in the last year, 73% increase in Twitter followers and an 84% boost in YouTube views and engagement within the first six months.
Our work with Illuminated Mirrors has secured the coveted Big Chip’s Best Marketing Campaign Award this year and achieved runner-up to global retail giant Made.com in last year’s international Online Retail Awards. So, we're delighted to now be shortlisted for Creative Marketing 2016 alongside some other wonderful Scottish names, including Barrhead Travel, AmiExecutive, The IES Team, Space Solutions and Shapes of Things - we wish everyone the best of luck on the night!
We passionately believe the way to make a difference in our highly competitive market is to ensure our team is as skilled as possible and given opportunities to progress internally. Our collaborative company culture is at the heart of our success and we recognise that by creating a positive and vibrant working environment, we create more effective and creative work, alongside a happier workforce. So, to be shortlisted for this award is both an honour and a positive reflection on the commitment of our Directors to developing our people.
Our success in developing people is evident in our recently rolled-out Personal Development Plan (PDP) model, our formalised knowledge share program and numerous measurable achievements over the past year, including certifications, industry accreditations and awards. In fact, just last year we were shortlisted alongside two incredible global corporations - tech giant and billion dollar company FanDuel and ecommerce business Occa-Home - at the DigiTech Awards for the 'Investment Award 2015' . This prestigious award recognised our commitment to our people, our growth and creation of employment opportunities, major client wins and our successful expansion into the US.
In the People Development category, we're delighted to be shortlisted alongside our friends at Barrhead Travel again and City Building, Glasgow Clyde College, Pursuit Marketing and B-DACS. We look forward to seeing you all on the night.
"Being shortlisted for leading industry awards are testament to the hard work going on behind the scences. We're proud to have achieved nominations for two awards that recognise both the time and resource invested into our people and the incredible outputs they have achieved. I'd like to thank the whole team for their continuous commitment and here's to a great evening!"
David Johnstone, Managing Director, AD
