In the last year, the company has grown and changed in line with a number of large projects and exciting client work and we have added not one but two new faces to our client services team. Lorna and Mhairi come from exciting backgrounds and will be taking on interesting challenges and roles here at After Digital. I spoke with them to get to know them a little better...
What attracted you to the role and After Digital?
Not long out of uni and I wanted to take on a role that challenged and intrigued me, I couldn't not fall for After Digital. The general fun, creative and welcoming vibe of the business, it just seemed like a great place to work!
I had some experience of project managing digital projects in my previous job which I really enjoyed and I was looking for a more focused role so the opportunity to work solely on digital projects at After Digital really appealed to me. Also, After Digital seemed like a really interesting and vibrant company to be a part of and one which is really going places at the moment!
What was the last company you worked for / last job you had and what is the most important thing you learned there?
I worked at IKRUSH, an online fashion retailer, as an eCommerce assistant. In such all round busy body position it was a great chance to develop my juggling skills (read- learn how to be super organised.). Most importantly though I began to pick up on different aspects of the digital world, getting my first insight on how an eCommerce business really works.
Previously I worked as Project Manager at Scottish Enterprise where I really learned the importance of organising and planning your workload. I previously managed a portfolio of projects, all in different sectors, with different partners, at different stages of the lifecycle, and with different budgetary and time constraints. The only way to keep juggling your workload successfully is to organise and plan ahead (as much as possible!) to ensure no part of your workload is neglected. Luckily for me I'm quite OCD/sad so I like to organise.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I used to be a rugby player back in the day!
I have an unhealthy addition to the Home Decor section on Pinterest. In another life, I would definitely have been an interior designer.
If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Morgan Freeman. You speak. They Listen.
Definitely a stylish lady like Alexa Chung or the Olsen twins. I'd spend all day raiding/playing dress-up with their incredible wardrobes. That would be amazing.
What has been your worst job ever?
I used to work in a chip shop. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with working in a chip shop but when you're as clumsy as I am this becomes a much more dangerous career path. Also, turning up for a pint after work with batter in your hair is somewhat frowned upon...
My first and worst ever job was as a server/table cleaner/dish washer at the in-store cafe of a well-known supermarket chain. I lasted 2 weeks.
We are very pleased to welcome both Lorna and Mhairi to the team. With a diverse range of skills we are looking forward to seeing them grow and develop to become integral parts of our team.
