How time flies - we can hardly believe it’s been almost 19 years since we first opened our doors and started creating award-winning solutions for our clients! As the year draws to a close, we thought it was only right to reflect on the past 12 months, and what a 12 months it has been. In fact, the past year has been our most successful to date, so let’s find out why...

It's our Agile Anniversary!

We’ve always been big advocates of collaboration. Collaboration improves communication, shared learning, mitigates risk and helps us work in tandem with our clients to deliver the best possible digital solutions. Back in December of last year we put the entire agency through an intense agile training programme, culminating in the team sitting and attaining their Professional Scrum Master 1 accreditations (holler!). 11 months on and we’ve developed our own agile processes, adhering to the ‘fail fast, learn fast’ mantra, and placing our clients firmly at the centre of our projects. This approach of releasing small, regular increments has not only reduced risk but it has also increased productivity across the board. What’s more it's attracted some top new talent to the team, with our fabulous new Traffic Manager starting back in September. Kirsty (or our resident agile geek as she also likes to be known) has brought a wealth of agile knowledge (having delivered the Digital by Default Standards project across all English health bodies), helping us to overcome the leaps and bounds of implementing a new process that was not designed for an agency environment. You can read more about her take on agile over here.

After Digital earns its (stars) and stripes!

As a growing international agency, we were beyond excited to welcome our first amazing client in the US and open our American office. After beginning work with the Salt Lake County Center for the Arts back in April, 7 months, 9000 miles of travel later and sign-off from the Salt Lake City Mayor, we launched their stunning new suite of sites earlier this month - check them out in all their glory over here. But, we’re not stopping here - there’s many more exciting, international projects coming your way in 2016.

Manchester Move

At the beginning of the year we set targets to open a Manchester office and grow our presence into this amazing city by quarter three of 2015, but our plans were accelerated when we acquired long-standing Manchester digital agency Fluid Creativity back in March 2015. We were over the moon to welcome an amazing new group of digital fanatics to our team, who complemented our existing skill set and brought enhanced Magento experience - result - and 6 months earlier than anticipated.

New locations

Accreditations achieved

Of course it’s not all about the fun and games. 2015 has been the most successful year on record for After Digital! We are over the moon to have launched 28 amazing websites since the beginning of the year, we’ve passed 33 exams and we’re now working with 21 amazing new clients including Robert Gordon University, Stoneridge, National Theatre of Scotland and Glasgow Caledonian University (go team). Our hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed and this year we have been nominated for 13 awards, with 3 wins, a commendation for our work with Benromach Whisky (find out all about that here), 9 runner up awards and countless sore morning-after heads.

We seem to be a year of the big ones: 1 marriage, 1 engagement, 1 divorce, 1 relocation, 1 amazing furry newbie (pictures of Noodle the new office puppy coming very soon) and 1 bumble bee saved (mid pitch may we add), however we’re not always so conservative. This year we’ve had 200+ ASOS deliveries (we may need to set up a rehab clinic to wean them off), 100+ GIFs shared, a retweet reach of over 677k, and delivered 6 major digital strategy and transformation projects (one of which resulted in the client securing £1m worth of investment). What’s more, we have two products in development - Tessitura Bridge (in its next iteration) and Portfolio Connect which we can’t wait to begin integrating in 2016.

Pro bono contributions

New partnerships

Raised for charity

Listen to us, all After Digital, After Digital, After Digital. But we’re not all about us. We love rolling our sleeves up and giving back. In fact, every year we select an organisation to partner with pro bono - this year it was the amazing Icon Awards (fabulous much!?) and later Charity Champions. We’re proud to welcome diversity in all it’s forms and so when Icon approached us we jumped at the chance to help them. Our values were so closely aligned that after launching the website for Icon Awards back in July and continuing to work closely with them as their digital consultants, we agreed to another pro bono project for Charity Champions. We’ve also established three new partnerships, to support organisations in the third sector and the arts in achieving their goals. We’re proud to say that our pro bono work totals over £40,000 this year.

Beyond this, we’ve also collectively raised more than £3,000 for various charities and a few of our lovely ladies have already signed up for Tough Mudder 2016 kicking off our next round of fundraising efforts (get involved!).

One other notable 2015 event - Star Wars is FINALLY on our screens!! In fact, our MD David is off to the cinema this very afternoon to watch it (this is one thing that he could not wait until the new year for).

It really has been all systems go and we can’t thank everyone enough who has contributed and made this year so amazing. No matter how you’re spending the festive period, we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas (filled with too much food and a good amount of your favourite kind of bubbles) and a wonderful New Year when it comes.

We look forward to seeing you in the New Year, where we look forward to many more exciting collaborations and projects.

For now, over and out - After Digital!
