Last month we welcomed our new web developer, Craig Pryde, into the AD team!

As we do with all our new starts, we sat down and asked him some of our favourite questions to allow us (and you!) to really get to know him...

What attracted you to After Digital?

The team’s passion and focus on providing quality work to an impressive portfolio of clients.

Tell us a bit about what you did before joining After Digital.

My interests in development started when I was 13 and I taught myself how to make software. I transitioned this into a few years of freelancing and then onto working for one of the biggest digital agencies in the UK as a web developer. I'm also a 1st-degree black belt in taekwondo and spent most of my teenage years studying and teaching the martial art to the next generation of students.

What do you bring to the team?

A focus on quality, innovation and a wide skill set that can open up new opportunities within front-end development for clients. I have a love for animation and building innovative products that can help increase profits and make brands stand out within a crowded digital landscape. I look forward to bringing my skills and experiences to After Digital and creating some awesome products for their ever-expanding client base.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my free time, I build ideas that pop into my head with an aim to improve my skills and chase the passion that drives my love for development. I believe that talent is what you have naturally but skill is only developed by hours and hours of honing your craft.

When I take a break from development I’m a gamer and a huge ice hockey fan, I like to watch the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins play during hockey season. I also support the Braehead Clan and watch them play home games in Glasgow whenever I can.

What’s your favourite film?

Disney’s Treasure Planet - “You got the makings of greatness in you, but you gotta take the helm and chart your own course! Stick to it, no matter the squalls!” - John Silver

Favourite type of music/favourite artist and why?

I enjoy most genres of music, but the one that stands out most to me is rock, a few bands I enjoy listening to are Bring Me The Horizon, Skillet, Asking Alexandria and The Animal In Me. I love the atmosphere around rock and can easily put on headphones and zone out to it whilst working.

Stranded on a desert island what 3 items would you take?

“WILSON, WHERE ARE YOU?” - Advice gained from castaway, you need to take a ball with you. So that when times are tough you have a friend to talk to.
Machete - To carve wood and create items to hunt and fish with.
Fresh Water - To combat the thirst.

Do you have any weird talents/party tricks?

I can eat some of the weirdest food combinations possible on a night out. A classic I usually have is Fish and Chips with cheese, curry sauce and gravy. I’d call that a talent and a party trick!

Which celeb would play you in a movie?

Ryan Reynolds because I think he would do a great job at making people laugh at the highlights from my youth.

What superpower or superhuman ability would you like to have?

Would have to be a direct copy of Aquaman's powers - I would love to see what's hidden at the bottom of the ocean and specifically what's at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Could it be the last of the dinosaurs?

What's your favourite quote?

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” - Robin Williams

I think that sums up how I feel about development and chasing idea after idea in a pursuit to change and improve the world.

We’re looking forward to seeing more of Craig’s work over the coming months. Welcome to the team Craig!
