Always a great way to start the day, I was welcomed into my inbox with two lovely emails from the team at Big Chip Awards to say we'd been shortlisted for both categories entered - Best User Experience Design and Best Digital Marketing.

Run by not-for-profit trade organisation Manchester Digital, the Big Chip Awards is the longest running awards in the UK (established back in 1997) and the largest digital awards outside London. The awards aim to showcase outstanding businesses within the digital and technology industries in the North. Known for their rigorous high standards and integrity, the awards boasts a distinguished panel of judges, who are all experts in the industry.

After our success last year, where we won Best Digital Marketing for our work with long-standing client Illuminated Mirrors, we're delighted to have been recognised again. Our two entries were for highly competitive categories (with over 250 applications for the awards this year), both featuring a plethora of incredible shortlisted projects and companies. Here's a little more about our entries...

Best User Experience

Back in 2016, we started working with the world-renowned Donmar Warehouse, crafting a new website, which looked to mirror the energy and identity of the organisation, whilst tackling typically poor online ticketing experiences. Launched early this year, the website marries design and functionality to deliver a beautiful, high-end user experience, which has supported sell-out performances online, growing engagement and operational efficiencies.

Best Digital Marketing/Branding Campaign

Global delivery brand Deliveroo approached us last year to support them in driving brand awareness and uptake within major cities in Northern England via a digital marketing campaign. We pitched several creative campaigns, leveraging Twitter as their only regionally-controlled marketing channel, which communicated key messages, engaged partner restaurants and encouraged consumer action. Of these, two campaigns were rolled out, with both organic and paid social media tactics employed. The results were significant, with an average growth in engagement across all accounts of 542% and a direct uplift in sales.

Already shortlisted for the Drum Network Awards and Northern Digital Awards over the past 12 months, our work with Deliveroo went on to be showcased across their internal international communications platform and was presented to their board as an example of best practice marketing and ROI.

"Awards like the Big Chip Awards, which have a remarkably high standard and unbiased approach to judging, are an important marker of progress and contribution. They reward the efforts of those working on the frontline and encourage continual improvements across the industry. We're honoured to have been shortlisted for these two awards and look forward to returning to the event for the second year (hopefully with similar success)."

A huge congratulations from all the team here to all the nominees - it's great to see so many incredible companies and ideas coming from the North. The winners will be announced at the awards dinner at Manchester's Hilton Hotel on 15th June and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
