A year after winning our first major North American client - Salt Lake City County Center (now Experience Arts Salt Lake) - we couldn’t be happier to announce that we’ve been selected by the University of Colorado’s performing arts centre CU Presents to support them in their digital transformation.
Situated in Boulder, Colorado, CU Presents is globally-renowned for the calibre of its performing arts and the talent it nurtures. Each year the organisation presents over 150 ticketed events. To boot, they boast a Grammy award-winning string quartet, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Eklund Opera, numerous noteworthy educational and outreach initiatives, and are recognised as one of the USA’s top university music programs.
Launching a competitive international tender, CU Presents set out to identify the perfect digital partner to support them in growing global brand awareness whilst uncovering the full breadth of their offering, creating beautiful and purposeful online user experiences, driving attendance and, ultimately, increasing ticket sales. With an award-winning portfolio of work across the arts, education and ecommerce sectors, we were excited to respond to their brief and show them what we could offer.
“We chose After Digital to redesign the CU Presents website after a very competitive bid process. They immediately stood out for their rich understanding of how best to approach digital communications, especially within the performing arts industry. Our teams may be located across an ocean, but it feels like we have a true partner working right alongside us."
- Laima Haley, Marketing and Public Relations Director, CU Presents
Last month, some of our team traveled over to Colorado (tablet, shortbread and Irn Bru in tow) to kick-off the discovery process with the CU Presents team. And, a warmer welcome they could not have been given. From hiking in the mountains on the Sunday before work began to tours of their incredible campus and facilities, the CU Presents team made sure we felt right at home.
Over our week on-site, we looked to gather further project specifications and reviewed their organisational and user objectives (mapping out user personas, stories and journeys). Our Head of Creative started to plan key conversion paths and sketch up wireframes with the CU team, with mood boards created to begin to explore their vision and design aspirations in more detail.
The new website will not only better represent the organisation visually, it will introduce enhanced functionality, in the form of a bespoke TNEW ticketing integration, which hopes to make use of all the benefits of the latest version of the CRM and online ticketing system from Tessitura (more info on this here) with some clever enhanced features.
A partnership spanning the Atlantic
We’re very excited to beginning our journey with CU Presents. Having sold over 70,000 tickets to more than 15,000 patrons in the past year, they hope that the new website will enable them to build on this success to reach out to even wider audiences and bring new people from across the world to their award-winning performances.
“Over our 19+ years we’ve supported numerous clients with their growth into the States, and in the past year we’ve been delighted to further our own expansion there. This project enables us to leverage our breadth of experience from across ecommerce, education and arts projects to craft a tailored, beautiful and impactful new solution for CU Presents. We’re very much looking forward to supporting this multi-faceted organisation on their digital journey and the team, who have already spent time in Boulder (Colorado), are certainly keen to get back over there soon!"
