Aiming to encourage greater visitation to the museum and engage a younger audience over the festive period, the Science Museum approached After Digital to come up with a number of creative digital concepts and, ultimately, design a bespoke, interactive Facebook app.

After Digital worked with the incumbent marketing team to conceptualise a series of ideas, in line with the Science Museum's advertising agency and existing campaign objectives. After a number of innovation workshops these ideas were presented to the Science Museum and the brief developed for the chosen solution - an interactive Facebook app.
The app was built to stylistically represent a traditional Christmas advent calendar, with 12 interactive doors all hiding different activities, fun facts and multimedia that were relevant to the Museum's festive exhibitions and offering. Creative content was developed, in line with the Museum's strict scientific fact-checking procedures, including multiple-choice quizzes, spot the difference games and embedded film trailers (being shown in the Museum's cinema). Our strategic team worked closely with front-end developers to then translate this content and concepts into engaging functionality and features.
The Xmas campaign, supported by display advertising within London Underground, ran for a month and targeted young people and families, encouraging them to visit the Science Museum during the Christmas holidays.
