Focusing on leadership, enterprise and personal development, the Social Enterprise Academy came to us in late 2014 looking for an innovative digital partner to conceptualise, design and build a stunning new responsive website for their core platform and two complementary, dynamic microsites for SEA local hubs. But, this was just the beginning.
GROWTH in online engagement
UNIQUE websites centrally managed
LEARNERS supported worldwide
Our collaborative process began with a number of on-site days to gain a thorough understanding of SEA's proposition and requirements. Our on-site days are a unique opportunity for key stakeholders from the client's team to spend time on-site with core members of the After Digital project team to work together. This approach allows each member of the team to gain an insight into key organisational and user goals, core user journeys, identify priority content, site architecture and outline priority wireframes.
What became clear was that SEA required a multisite solution that allowed them to adapt and grow as they expanded their offering into new international markets, all whilst streamlining administration.
With a desire to increase cross-selling opportunities, a key area for development was around the search function and taxonomy of the site, built to include more relevant features and make the content more appealing to SEA's audiences. As such, the UX team started from a mobile-first perspective and created a series of wireframes to help SEA achieve their goals. Developed on an open source platform, the website makes use of best practice responsive design, ensuring a seamless user experience across devices.
“I would happily recommend After Digital - they have been incredibly flexible, supportive and helpful throughout our ambitious project and we are absolutely delighted with the results. Thank you everyone - we love it!”

Multi-site multi-lingual solutions
Working with the SEA team, we looked to create highly flexible templates, which enabled the SEA platform to grow and flex to its evolving needs, whilst still remaining robust and consistent in branding. Beyond the technical development, our SEO experts worked hard to ensure no issues were incurred through duplicate content and all websites were optimised to greatest effect across locations.
Supporting Scotland's communities
The new platform launched at the end of January 2015 and, in just a month, had already boosted engagement by over 10%, encouraging visitors to spend more time on the website engaging with key content and attracting more new users to the site. The platform now supports ten multi-sites, all serving unique markets and audiences, but with central management. International traffic has also grown, with significant increases in visits from the US, Russia, Brazil, Australia and France.
We continue to work with SEA to develop their platform as they continue to expand.
